Re: Resolution on the Use of City Facilities for Arms Exhibitions

Dear Mayor O'Brien,

I am writing to inform you of a motion passed at the 19 May 2009 meeting of the Board of the Old Ottawa South Community Association concerning the use of Lansdowne Park and other City facilities for arms expositions.

The motion reads as follows:

MOTION: proposed by Brendan McCoy and seconded by Steve Mennill that the OSCA Board resolves that City staff should not ignore the clear spirit of a resolution by City Council. The City of Ottawa should not allow an arms exhibition at Lansdowne Park or any other City property in the future unless the previous resolution of City Council, banning such an exhibition, is overturned by Council after an open debate.

MOTION CARRIED

The Board has asked that this resolution be conveyed to you as Mayor, and through you, to members of City Council.
