- Approval of Agenda and Minutes
- Motion:: Proposed by Greg Strahl and seconded by Jenny Haysom that the Agenda be accepted, with the following additions:
- 8a - Motion: on $500 for OOS History Project
- 8b - Motion: on $500 paid to City for costing of plumbing for Cistern
- Motion carried
- Motion:: proposed by Brenda Lee and seconded by David Law that the April 21 minutes be accepted with the following changes:
- Item 6 should read Steve Mennill presented the year end financials for 2008 and the Motion should also read Balance Sheet and Income Statements presented for 2008.

- President's Report
- Michael Jenkin gave the report.
- Firehall renovation - we had the last meeting and ironed out many details. The tender will be out by June 4, closing June 24. Moving out of the Firehall on June 22.
- Michael attended the FCA monthly meeting. Lansdowne Park was discussed.
- The City has put out a Parks and Recreation Master Plan and is looking for input. This item to be on the Agenda for June 2009 meeting.
- Lease for Southminster - we now have a first draft of the lease. Michael, Greg, Anna and Deirdre to meet May 21 at 8 pm to discuss.
- Election of OSCA Executive for 2009/10
- Michael handed the meeting over to Deirdre McQuillan.
- Deirdre read out the following slate of candidates for the OSCA Executive:
- President - Michael Jenkin
- Vice-President - David Law
- Treasurer - Steve Mennill
- Secretary - Greg Strahl
- Chair, Program Committee - Anna Sundin
- Motion:: proposed by Brendan McCoy and seconded by Jenny Haysom that the above slate be elected as the OSCA Executive for 2009/10.
- Motion carried
- Michael advised the board that this would be his last year as president so a replacement will have to be found.
- Councillor's Report
- Clive Doucet
- Shopper's Drug Mart - the project has been put on hold.
- Pressure treated wood in Brewer Park - the wood will be removed in Spring 2010.
- Barricade on Bank Street Bridge - Clive said he would ask that the installation of a barrier on the sidewalks on the bridge be put in the 2010 City Budget.

- Resolution on Arms Bazaar at Lansdowne Park
- Craig Piche and Debbie Grisdale from the organization OATS (Oppose Arms Trades Shows) gave a short presentation to the board regarding the fact that the City was allowing an arms show to take place on city property.
- Motion:: proposed by Brendan McCoy and seconded by Steve Mennill that the OSCA Board resolves that City staff should not ignore the clear spirit of a resolution by City Council. The City should not allow an arms exhibition at Lansdowne Park or any other City property in the future unless the previous resolution of City Council, banning such an exhibition, is overturned by Council after an open debate.

- A letter will be sent by OSCA to the Mayor.
- Resolution on Letter of support to City on removal of toxic pressure-treated wood in Brewer Park
- Jennifer Chandler and Maureen James asked the board to consider writing to the City on this topic.
- Motion:: proposed by Brendan McCoy and seconded by Greg Murphy that because of the known health hazards posed by the pressure-treated wood the OSCA Board asks that the City of Ottawa replace the walkway and fence in Brewer Park in the water play area as soon as possible with removal and replacement completed no later than Spring 2010.

- A letter will be sent from OSCA to Clive Doucet with copies to Aaron Burry, Jennifer Chandler and Maureen James.
- It was agreed to post the motion on the OSCA website with links to sites about pressure-treated wood - to be provided by Jennifer and Maureen.
- Resolution on posting information on toxic pressure-treated wood in Brewer Park
- The board agreed that it was not its place to post a warning notice in Brewer Park.

- a Resolution on Financing for OOS History Project
- Motion:: proposed by Mohammad al-Asad and seconded by Brendan McCoy that Whereas the Ottawa South History Project has served the Old Ottawa South community very well during the past year
with its research, analysis, documentation and publicity of the history of OOS; - And OSHP provided a report to OSCA on its activities during 2008, in fulfillment of its receipt of a grant from OSCA for 2008;
- And OSHP has continued need of financial support to enable its growing volunteer base to continue its activities;
- And while OSHP has been successful in fundraising for its Heritage Survey project, all of these funds are designated for salaries to employ a summer student researcher during the months May - August;
- Therefore be it resolved that OSCA provide a grant of $500 to OSHP for the 2009 year subject to receipt of an account of spending for 2008 and a budget for 2009
to allow OSHP volunteers to defray out of pocket costs for reproducing archival and other records for OSHP research, analysis, documentation and publicity, including regular
columns in the OSCAR newspaper, slide shows at OSCA events and other outlets. - Motion carried
- b Resolution on paying City $500 for pricing installation of plumbing
- Motion:: proposed by David Law and seconded by Brendan McCoy that OSCA pay $500 to the City of Ottawa to pay for the pricing of the installation of plumbing for a rooftop cistern.

- Moving day is set for Monday, June 22. We now have a draft lease from Southminster United Church (SUC) and Anna, Greg, Michael and Deirdre will meet May 21 to discuss. Deirdre will contact OSCA’s insurance agents.

- Nobody turned up for this item.
- House of Paint
- Bob Reid spoke to the board on behalf of Sabra Ripley who could not attend. The festival has been growing every year and will take place on July 25 this year. Some concerns in the neighbourhood are loud music, drug use and graffiti spilling out from the designated area. House of Paint would like to see more lighting under the bridge.
- City Centre Coalition - Cam Robertson
- Mr. Robertson went through all the traffic issues the coalition is dealing with including light rail.
- He mentioned the valuable contribution made to the coalition by Stephen Haines and asked if OSCA would name somebody to sit on the CCC.
- Committee Reports
- Firehall Redevelopment - If the City approves, OSCA will sell the locker doors for $20 each.
- Special Events - Brenda Lee reminded people about the Farewell to the Firehall party on May 23 from 2 to 4 pm.
