Deborah Margo was awarded the City of Ottawa art commission in the summer of 2010, following an open call-to-artists and public competition. The art work is now permanently installed inside, in front of the original fire station doors, in the Old Firehall’s vestibule. Deborah Margo’s sculptural work "celebrates the conversation between the past and present architectural identities of the Old Firehall". The grid of ten embossed and punctured copper panels depicts underlying concepts of growth and change. This transformation is highlighted by the unsealed copper surfaces of the panels which will deepen in tone and, in areas, turn green over time.
