During the summer months Colonel By Drive and several other NCC parkways are closed to car traffic on Sunday mornings. These routes, by the Rideau Canal and Ottawa River, are open to joggers, rollerbladers, and cyclists. They offer an 8 km-long scenic and safe opportunity to see the National Capital, and its many natural and cultural attractions.
Sunday brunch in the Byward Market (at the north end of Colonel By Drive) is a popular routine for many local families.
