Two Thousand People, Forty Different Languages, One Hundred Picnic Blankets, And a Bunch of Soccer Balls
Come out and cheer on your favourite team with the return of Ottawa’s Community Cup, the recreational soccer tournament that has become a favourite way for newcomers and their families to connect and make new friends in Ottawa.
This family-friendly day in the park includes a seven-on-seven recreational soccer tournament, children’s activities, international food and music, demonstration sports, and a Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony. Ottawa organizations fill the Community Tent, reaching out to newcomers with the best that this welcoming community has to offer.
And the picnic blankets? Those go to the first 100 people to donate a non perishable food item to the Ottawa Food Bank, making the day complete with a picnic in the park. With the Farmers’ Market nearby, great food selection will be a snap.
