Au revoir Mrs. Legris

mrs-_legrisMrs. Legris invites present and former Hopewell students and choir members to be her guests for some delicious Stella Luna gelato, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17.

After 46 years of teaching, the last twelve of which have been at Hopewell Avenue Public School, Mrs. Legris has decided to retire at the end of this school year. It was a hard decision to make for a person who continues to be inspired and delighted by her students, but knowing that there will never be a “right time” to retire and that the decision will be no easier to make in future years, Mrs. Legris has decided to take this step now.

Of course, this does not mean a future of idleness, as Mrs. Legris will continue her already active volunteer life, including Children and Youth Choirs in the city as well as volunteer opportunities in her church and at Hopewell Ave. School.

This late afternoon event at Stella Luna will be an opportunity for Mrs. Legris to spend time with the children she feels so fortunate to have taught and conducted over her time at Hopewell and their families, for whose support and kindness she continues to be grateful. At her request, there will be no speeches or other formalities. Nonetheless it will be an event for Mrs. Legris to add to her collection of happy and lasting memories of her time at Hopewell.
