Now in its fourth year, the Rideau Canal Festival is a true celebration of Ottawa’s UNESCO World Heritage Site! Whether you’re an heritage buff, an art lover, active living enthusiast or just want a great day with the family, the Rideau Canal Festival has what you’re looking for.

It’s five days of celebrations and family fun, with concerts, contests, fireworks, an art market, an enviromental fair, and many other activities at different sites along the canal. Events are held at Confederation Park, Bytown Museum/Ottawa Locks, and Dows Lake Pavilion, all connected by the Rideau Canal! The Rideau Canal Festival offers fun and exciting experiences to visitors and Ottawa residents alike.

Check out the concert schedule here. Or find out more about the temporary art installations that will be part of a outdoor art gallery. To help support the festival you can even adopt-a-metre in different sections along the canal. [Note you can’t earmark your donation for the Old Ottawa South part of the canal but you can affiliate with one or more groups; so far the Pretoria Bridge section seems most popular].

And don't forget the special Colonel By Day celebrations at the Bytown Museum & Ottawa Locks. There'll be music, dance, theatre, children's activities and heritage exhibitors from 11am - 4pm on Monday August 1, 2011.
