- GPS stolen from parked car overnight recently on Grosvenor Ave. Resident advises keeping cars locked and an eye on them in the next little while. Someone may be casing the area for easy pickings.

Valentine's Vetting: Chocolate and Strawberry Pie When Life of Pie and OSCA team up to present a class on how to make their Chocolate and Strawberry Pie on Feb. 22, clients are in for a special treat! OSCA Editor Gwendolyn Gall visited yesterday looking for one to photograph, but they had sold out on Valentine's Day—and well they should have! Gwen had to head home and snap what was left of their Valentine's pie. The custardy, creamy, chocolatey filling in a delectable pie crust, laced with gentle strawberry, had been just right to celebrate romance. Highly recommended!

OOE Hosers take 2012 Capital Ward Cup: Congratulations from OOS! SO! The Old Ottawa East Hosers wrested the the Capital Ward Cup from the Old Ottawa South Moose this year, 2012!

Congratulations all! We've got a nice little game going here, with such excellent neighbours and friends. Let's keep it up.

Kevin Mallon brings Aradia Baroque Ensemble to the Firehall Feb. 25 To purchase tickets, click here. The inaugural concert of OSCA’s Sirens of Firehall series is nearly upon us! The first concert, on February 25, features music of the Italian Baroque, played by the Aradia Baroque Ensemble. I caught up with the group’s Artistic Director Kevin Mallon, to talk about his work, the ensemble and the upcoming performance at the Firehall. (More details below.)

Bach for Piano and Cello Sat. March 3 at Southminster Southminster United Church is pleased to invite you to a special concert for piano and cello with music by J. S. Bach, performed by Southminster’s very own music director, Roland Graham, and cellist Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde on Saturday March 3, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The program will consist of solo works for both piano and cello, including the English Suite in E minor and the Prelude and Fugue in E-Flat minor for piano, as well as the Suite in D minor for Cello, along with chamber works for the instruments combined, including the Sonata for Cello and Piano in G major.

Rideau River Ice Breaking to Start Feb. 13Ice breaking operations, including blasting, are set to begin Monday, February 13, weather and ice conditions permitting, on the Rideau River between Rideau Falls and Hog’s Back.
The City, in partnership with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, undertakes ice breaking operations each year to alleviate possible spring flooding in flood-prone areas. Once started, these operations will be carried out daily.
Ice breaking operations will create open water. Residents are asked to remain a reasonable distance from the river until operations are completed, and to supervise children around water.
