Havana Night II is coming fast! It's going to be a great time, for a great cause; get your tickets at www.oldottawasouth.ca, Compact Music in the Glebe, or the Havana Cafe in OOS. It's sponsored by OSCA, a fundraisesr for Friends of Lansdowne. Lots of your friends will be there--don't miss the event of the deep winter season! ------------------------------------------------------------ Have you heard about last year’s “Havana Night”, an evening of Cuban celebration complete with music, food and drinks? You haven’t? Saturday, January 28th the Firehall on Sunnyside Avenue will be the venue again this year for the much anticipated “Havana Night II”, an Ottawa South Community Association fundraiser for the Friends of Lansdowne legal challenge. Get your tickets now --- last year we sold out the week before! Tickets are $40 per person and are available at the Havana Cafe, 1200 Bank Street, Compact Music, 785 Bank Street, the Firehall (Ottawa South Community Centre), 260 Sunnyside Avenue and online at www.oldottawasouth.ca. Break out your dancing shoes by 8 p.m. because the wonderful Caridad Cruz Trio will be the featured band again this year – the Trio consists of Caridad Cruz doing vocals & bongos, César Ricardo on guitar & bass and also vocals and Israel Martinez on guitar and vocals. Mojitos will be the barkeeper’s specialty for the evening, but various wines, beer and other mixed drinks to keep you cool will also be available. For your gastronomic delight Oslaide Guerra, the Havana Cafe’s chef, will be serving some delicious and scrumptious nibbles. Cannot wait to try these! Bring your wallet for the silent auction because Diane McIntyre and Mary Martel-Cantelon have gathered some enticing and exciting items. Here is a preview of some possibilities: for the aspiring musician, a set of bongo drums and CDs; for the wannabee chef, a mandolin slicer and food gift cards; for the fashionista, drycleaning and clothing gift certificates; for the trendsetter, a teak birdcage; for the party thrower, a custom-made gelato cake and a gift basket of delicacies; for the art collector, a painting entitled “The Spirit of Lansdowne”. Do I need to go on? There will be more, many more items for you to bid on. Remember to get dressed for this midwinter fest in your colourful Cuban clothing! And don’t forget your straw hat! There is a rumour that there will be prizes for the most creative and beautiful outfits: stay tuned at www.oldottawasouth.ca. More information about the event is available online or by telephoning 613-247-4946. |
