Was the Story of the Adulterous Woman (John 7:53-8:11) originally told by Jesus? Was it originally in the Gospel of John? What other things can we learn about early Christians from the manuscript copies of the New Testament that they created? Zeba Crook, Old Ottawa South resident and Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Carleton University, will be giving a public lecture at the Glebe Community Centre. Dr. Crook will talk about some of the oldest manuscripts of the New Testament -- paying special attention to one of the oldest Papyrus copies of the Gospel of John, P66 from about 200 CE. These manuscripts, in some cases little more than scraps of paper, reveal a great deal about the people who produced them, and this lecture will look at some of those things.
